1. Delete your account from the app
This is the fastest route, and it is the one we recommend if you still have the Chauffeurize app installed.
- Open the Chauffeurize app and sign in.
- Go to Profile, then Account settings.
- Choose Delete account and confirm.
You are signed out on every device as soon as you confirm, and the account cannot be used to sign in again.
2. Ask us to delete it instead
If you have already removed the app, or you cannot sign in, send us the request and we will action it for you. Use the contact form and choose Delete my Chauffeurize account as the reason, or email us directly.
- Contact form — reason: Delete my Chauffeurize account
- [email protected]
Send the request from the email address on the account. We will confirm the request before acting on it, so that nobody else can close your account on your behalf.
3. What closing your account does
Closing takes effect the moment you ask. There is no waiting period and no countdown.
- Your sessions are revoked and every device is signed out.
- The account can no longer be signed in to, and no longer appears anywhere in the app.
- Your push notification registrations are switched off, so the app can no longer reach your devices.
- Your email address is released. It is no longer attached to the closed account, which means you can sign up again with it whenever you like.
If you do sign up again with the same address, you get a genuinely new account. Your previous bookings, messages, and history are not carried across and are not visible to the new account. This is deliberate: you asked to be gone, and your history should not reappear for whoever holds that address later.
4. What we keep, and why
Closing your account does not, by itself, destroy the record of your dealings with us. We keep your booking and rental history, invoices and payment records, the messages exchanged with our team, and any files you uploaded.
We keep them because:
- Accounting and tax law requires a completed transaction to stay attributable to the person who made it.
- Disputes and safety matters can be raised long after a journey. A complaint about a driver, or a driver’s account of a passenger, is worth nothing if the record it concerns has been destroyed.
- Insurance and liability claims arising from a journey can surface months later.
None of it is used to contact you, to market to you, or to serve you anything. The closed account cannot be signed in to, and the data is not visible to any customer or driver.
5. Asking us to erase your data
Closing your account and erasing your data are two different things, and you are entitled to ask for both.
If you want your personal information erased rather than simply closed, tell us and we will do it. Email [email protected] from the address on the account, or use the contact form and say that you want your data erased, not just your account closed.
When we carry out an erasure, we remove:
- your name, email address, and phone number;
- your profile photo and any other files you uploaded;
- your in-app notifications;
- your support conversations with our team;
- your notes and instructions on past bookings and rentals.
Two things still survive, and neither is used to contact you. Invoice, tax, and contract records are kept for seven years, because accounting law requires it — the minimum needed for that, in a restricted archive only an owner of the business can open, with every access logged. And a record that the erasure happened, with its dates, which proves it was carried out and contains none of the content that was removed.
We may also need to keep specific information where an open dispute, safety investigation, insurance claim, or legal obligation requires it. If that applies to you, we will tell you what is being kept and why.
6. How long each step takes
- Closing your account: immediately. Sessions revoked, devices signed out, the account unusable, and your email address freed for a new sign-up.
- An erasure request: within 30 days. We confirm the request came from you, carry out the erasure, and tell you when it is done.
- Backups: within 90 days of an erasure. Anything remaining in our rotating backups has aged out by then.
- The accounting archive: seven years. Deleted after that.
Changed your mind about closing? Contact us. If nobody has signed up with your email address in the meantime, we can usually reopen the account with its history intact. If someone has, you will need to start a new account — the address can only belong to one live account at a time.
